Rebuilding Neural Circuits
CELLutions Bio was founded to translate decades of research in neural repair into a new generation of cell therapies.
We are developing defined human neuronal cell therapies designed to replace critical components of damaged neural circuits and restore function after injury and disease. Our approach is built on a simple idea: successful neural repair requires more than replacing cells - it requires rebuilding the right connections.
From Discovery to Therapy
CELLutions Bio grew from a longstanding collaboration between neuroscientists and co-founders - Michael Lane and Lyandysha Zholudeva - investigating how spinal neural circuits reorganize after injury and how specific populations of spinal interneurons contribute to recovery.
Early preclinical studies revealed that conventional neural stem/progenitor cell transplants may contain too few of the spinal interneuron populations critical to motor circuitry. Enriching transplants with spinal interneurons engineered from stem cells improved recovery after traumatic spinal cord injury.
That work led to the development of methods for generating defined human spinal interneurons and the discovery that these cells can survive transplantation, integrate with injured spinal circuitry, and contribute to functional recovery.
CELLutions Bio was created to take the next step: translating these discoveries into scalable, clinically viable cell therapies for people living with neurological injury and disease.
